During the 1982 Guerra de las Malvinas between the United Kingdom and Argentina, “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” was played sarcastically by British regimental bands as they deployed to the Falkland Islands.

At least we’ve won a World Cup or two in my lifetime.

Having visited buenos aires, I was stunned at how into the Faulkland Islands War all of you people were. I mean, eternal flames, statues, parades, holy shit. All for a barren piece of land with penguin shit as the primary natural resource. From now on, focus on soccer. It’s more valuable.

Well… in a fair and just parallel universe you only won once. The greatest Argentinian player of all time had to cheat to beat us. But whatever. All that oil under the Falklands will pay for his sins.
