New York Photos

Instead of your typical New York photos (Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge), I took some different photos to better reflect parts of my weekend. Enjoy.

I paid $3.62 for this hot dog at the Greyhound bus station. Yummy.

While waiting for the bus, I played some Galaga. I kick The Princess’ ass at this game everytime we play while waiting at the laundromat.

This is my idea of beauty.

Some books sell for 49 cents. 49 CENTS!

I caught this at the Union Station Metro on my return home, letting the shutter stay open for five seconds. I’m a photography genius.

  • Your yummy hot dog looks like my diarrhea.

Your diarrhea probably tastes better than my hot dog.

  • You may be a photography genius, but you’re evidently not a genius at posting photos. A little wide, yesno?

They look fine on my browser. What’s the problem on yours? Are they pushing the right column down?

  • These photos are pretty damn cool …. and I think that I’d be having multiples if I was at that bookstore and saw books for 49cents.

Unfortunately, I’m a guy so that’s not possible. Lucky duck.

  • Wow! That Union Station photo is amazing!! And yes, The Strand IS a temple. Soo many wonderful books can be found there. A friend of mine recently found an out-of-print book he had been looking for for months. It cost him $12. The Amazon price? Over $300.

That’s very cool. I would have needed many more hours there just to begin feeling like I had done some solid book shopping.

  • That metro pic is fantastic.

The 49c books made me terribly envious.

The hotdog picture on the other hand made me throw up a little in my mouth.

The COST of the hot dog made me want to throw up more.

  • I used to live two blocks from The Strand. How I miss it so.

I knew you’d like this photo, Sweet, your pic of the bookstore near Eastern Market was my inspiration.

  • For the metro shot, did you place the camera on the floor in order to stabilize it? Normally shots taken with the shutter open for so long get all blurry because you inevitably move the camera.

That’s exactly what I did, otherwise it would have turned out the way my vision is after a blogger happy hour.

  • On IE they push the right column down, but at home on firefox they were actually overlapping the column - at first, at least.

Yeah, I saw that, too, after you pointed it out. There will be a permanent fix to that soon.

  • I like the galaga porn. I would totally have unprotected sex with a galaga machine.

    Would it be called Galagass?

  • Lovely photos! I NEED to chek out that store… I’m doing a NYC weekend in May - where is it? *bats eyelashes prettily for the information*

Oh, Dupont, you know I’m a sucker for the eyelash-batting. It’s in Union Square, near Broadway St., Sweet would know what street. Trust me, you’ll never want to leave.

  • Dupont,

I know Arjewtino would answer your question, but since I love the Strand, and I can’t resist not answering a question I have the answer for (yes, I’m a teacher’s pet) here’s the info:
The main store is on 12th Street and Broadway, so two blocks south (down) from the Union Square Station. You can’t miss it.
They also have a little kiosk on 5th avenue by Central Park, and I believe another store somewhere around Wall Street.

    …or have Tita tell you.

  • I hope you had fun!
What did you do for St. Patty’s day?

Completely avoided any Irish events. Should have taken you up on your recommendation of midget tossing.

  • I like that last one a lot. You really are a genius;)
